Artist's Comments

I drew this for a new age store in town named Kali.

This is the Goddess Kali, she represents either birth and death. Her job is to cut demons' heads off and then she needs to catch their blood with her long tongue. When the blood touches the earth, new demons will grow out of each drop. So Kali needs to lick them op.

Usually she's displayed really terrifying with lots of limbs and a very long tongue. She's also used to wear a skirt made of demon's arms. She also caries alot of jewelry.

My version is less terrifying. I was asked to make her more Diana-like (Goddess of the Hunt). She's holding the cut-off head of a demon and a scythe she uses for the cutting. With one of her other hands she's petting a lion, representing together with the Goddess the owners of the shop.

This piece is drawn in my more realistic style. You won't find it alot in my gallery yet, but I think I might submit some more of that style in the future. I've got tons of sketches lying around that I've never finished ^^;

I will colour this one later for own purpose. This thingie will be scrapped by then. Hope you like it!

Time taken: 2 hours
Tools: pencil sketch, bic ballpoint

Ps. Criticism is discouraged since this is made to the commissioner's liking.

Really pretty. Guess the commissioner got pleased. As a personal rendition of Kali she's really lovely, but you kept that air of "gooddessness" that sets her apart, that kind of "Look at me as much as you want... as long you don't ever think you may touch me" that every goddess in myths have. Nice job to fave!
